It was pretty hard to believe that California was once a place full of movies and stardom when it was now in this bad of a condition. But then again, the world was ending, and the population of Earth was not what it used to be. For the most part, only the strong and powerful survived. But there seemed to be one exception to that statement. Arin, a boy who was only fifteen years old, was doing pretty well on his own in the remains of the world.
Settling down in a ruined shack of sorts at a equally wrecked beach, Arin set down his bag inside of the makeshift base. It was very, very hot outside, so Arin had gone down to just his grey undershirt and shorts now, having removed his regular red shirt and yellow cape. Walking outside with his pocketknife concealed, Arin took a better look around him now that he had settled in. The city was still pretty close and it could be harboring some hungry animals or even people, but the beach itself seemed barren of life- and that was actually a good thing
Well, the child was not one just to sit around and be bored. (Although it was the safer option) Running up to the ocean, Arin dipped his foot into the water to test the temperature. It was pretty cold, but it was also scorching hot outside. A dip in the water would be a good thing to cool down. After a bit of swimming, Arin had managed to get into water that was deep enough to reach about halfway up his torso. He had dove underwater a few times to see if he could find anything of value, but all he could find was sand, sand, and more sand. HE had read stories about pirates and treasure back before the apocalypse arrived, which were pretty interesting to him. But when he resurfaced once more, Arin spotted what he believed to he another human near the beach.
'Ah, crapbaskets...' Arin quickly took one last breath for air, then took cover underwater. Whoever it was might have spotted him already, but he was better underwater, where he could avoid bullets, if said person had a gun. Then again, Arin was starting to get a bit dizzy from not having taken a breath of air in awhile...
