After walking for what seemed like forever, you fence in the distance. Curious, you change your direction. The closer you get, the more details you're seeing. Gates, barbed wire, you're beginning to second guess your change of direction. This could be dangerous.
You're about to turn around when you hear, "That's close enough, you. State your business."
Your eyes dart to find the source of the voice. You see a man crouching on a watch ledge on the inside of the gates. His glare is intimidating. "I will not ask again, stranger. State your business or my partner her can put a bullet in your head." You notice a man in a gas mask aiming a rifle at you.
You palm your weapon, ready for a fight. "I'm a survivor," you shout so they can hear you clearly. "Who are you?"
The man nods at the man in the gas mask and he lowers his weapon. "I'm Mark," he touches his chest. "And this is Dom," he points to the man in the gas mask, who nods in your direction. "Dom doesn't talk much, and if he does, you better listen."
You see Dom shrug.
Mark continued, "anyways, we're the gate guards and this is a survivor refuge. Sorry about that first impression. We get thugs out here sometimes and we haven't seen a new survivor in a long time."
You take your hand off of your weapon and relax.
"Please," Mark says to you, "come in. We've got more than enough room."
You nod your head in agreement. It couldn't hurt to check it out.
Mark jumps down from the ledge and opens the gate for you. You quickly make your way inside so he can shut the gate. You can't believe your eyes. You've never seen this many survivors in one place. There are men, women, and children of all ages here. You even see animals.
"I take it you're surprised. They always are. Please, make yourself at home. You're completely safe in here. You can come and go as you please. Welcome to the Safe Haven, survivor."
