Avignon is home to the Palais des Papes, which was built in 1309 when Pope Clement V abandoned Rome and settled there. These beautiful Gothic buildings could take anyone's breath away. It was the hot spot for severe rainstorms and flooded, sending all who could get away in time to find new homes elsewhere, and taking the lives of those who could not. After the water drained, the trashed city turned into hostile gang territory and the sacred and holy ten-foot-thick walls of the hardly-damaged Palais des Papes became home to that same large gang, the watchtowers giving them a perfect view of the city. This city has become a great area to hunt if you can avoid their eyes and patrols.
